In his role as Vice President & General Manager of Intermech, Inc. Mountain West Division, Melvin oversees each business sector, from estimating to final invoicing. Melvin is involved with estimate reviews, project staffing, project execution, quality control processes, and safety program management. He works closely with Procurement and Accounting to ensure projects are completed to our clients’ satisfaction. Melvin works in conjuncture with our labor organization and provides input to various trusts like Health & Welfare and local training organizations. Melvin has a long history with the Idaho National Laboratory and is continually working to make sure that we provide the services our clients need.
Expertise
Melvin has been in the mechanical and industrial construction industry for more than 25 years. His career began at Diversified Metal in 1990 as a sheet metal worker apprentice. In 1992, he transitioned to Atlas Mechanical & Industrial, Inc., where he held positions such as Foreman, Superintendent, Estimating Manager, and then, in 2010, General Manager. His knowledge of industrial construction has allowed our Mountain West Division to be very diversified in the industrial sector in addition to the general, civil, and structural sectors.
Melvin completed a four-year apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal Workers and later taught in the apprenticeship program for five additional years. He has held certifications for all welding processes and various material types. He holds the HVAC License for the State of Idaho, State of Utah, State of South Carolina, and State of New Mexico as well as the General Contractors license for the State of New Mexico for our company.
The Personal Side
In his downtime, Melvin enjoys spending time with his family and is rarely idle. He enjoys the outdoors and is involved with his local softball program, where he is able to spend time with his daughters and coaching other kids. Melvin loves to be on his dirt bike, in his boat fishing, or pushing snow with the bumper of the snow machine. He also enjoys remodeling old homes and working in his shop.
