June 1, 2010 - Piping and ductwork fabrication has recently begun at Intermech's newest facility located near I-20 and U.S. Hwy. 1 in Aiken, SC. Intermech's Aiken, SC Fabrication Facility was established in late 2009 to support the company's major project work at the U.S. Department of Energy Savannah River Site. The work being performed includes the piping fabrication for the Waste Solidification Building, the HVAC system ductwork for the Salt Waste Processing Facility and the HVAC system ductwork for the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility. With approximately 70,000 square feet under roof, the Aiken facility has the capability to fabricate and stage these critical piping and ductwork fabrications under rigid quality requirements, including project specific NQA-1 quality assurance programs.
The facility has been designed with broad flexibility and has designated areas to fabricate stainless steel piping, carbon steel piping, stainless steel ductwork and carbon steel ductwork, as well as the assembly and integration of mechanical equipment as project requirements dictate. The Aiken facility also provides an additional support for Intermech's construction projects at the Savannah River Site and in the Eastern U.S. regions by providing critical storage areas, laydown areas and space for the staging of construction equipment and tools. The facility complements and supports Intermech's existing Operation Center located in Winston-Salem, NC that oversees major construction and fabrication projects located throughout the United States.
This facility is an important step in the continued growth of Intermech and the expansion of the services and capabilities that we provide to our clients. We are excited about our new facility in Aiken with its ability to support our construction projects in the Southeast and the cost effective benefits that it brings to our clients!
