- 1971
- The fabrication and installation of plant HVAC systems is awarded to the company for the McGuire Nuclear Station near Charlotte, NC. The company ultimately provides fabrication and/or installation on over 60 nuclear power plants that are constructed in the U.S. during the 1970 and 1980
- 1980
- Intermech, Inc. is established as a Bahnson Holdings, Inc. Group Company, initially for the purpose of installing mechanical systems in U.S. commercial nuclear power plants.
- 1997
- Intermech is awarded the contract for fabrication and installation of the HVAC and process exhaust systems for the U.S. Army Umatilla Chemical Demilitarization Facility near Hermiston, OR. The plant is constructed for the safe disposal of highly toxic and hazardous weapons materials requiring stringent construction performance and quality control procedures.
- 1999
- Intermech acquires Thompson Mechanical Contractors, Inc. located in Pasco, WA. Thompson operations are relocated to a new facility in Richland, WA and begin the path of full integration into the Intermech organization.
- 1999
- Intermech is awarded the contract for fabrication and installation of HVAC and process exhaust systems for the U.S. Army Pine Bluff Chemical Demilitarization Facility near Pine Bluff, AR. Subsequently, the company is awarded the next two chemical and biological weapons demilitarization facilities near Aberdeen, MD (2001) and Newport, IN (2002).
- 2001
- Intermech acquires Atlas Mechanical and Industrial, LLC located in Idaho Falls, ID. Atlas operations begin the path of full integration into the Intermech organization.
- 2002
- The Main Plant Ductwork Fabrication and Installation for the River Protection Project - Waste Treatment Plant located at the U.S. Department of Energy Hanford Reservation near Richland, WA is awarded to Intermech. The contract includes the fabrication and installation of nearly 3.8 million pounds of nuclear quality and commercial grade ductwork and supports with a contract value exceeding $70 million.
- 2005
- The company fabrication facility located in Richland, WA achieves top recognition for occupational safety & health as Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) STAR. Later, Intermech receives the same status for field construction operations on the DOE River Protection Project Waste Treatment Plant.
- 2006
- Intermech national operations continue to expand with multiple, simultaneous major industrial mechanical and process piping installations awarded throughout the United States.
- 2008
- Intermech expands its operations with the opening of the McLeansville, NC Regional Operations Center. The facility specializes in a broad range of fabrication for piping systems, including hygienic piping for the pharmaceutical and life science industries, and provides support for Intermechregional construction projects. Intermech McLeansville also completes the implementation of the company NQA-1 quality program for the fabrication of piping and mechanical skids used in the nuclear industry.
- 2009
- Intermech continues to expand with the opening of the Aiken, SC Fabrication Facility. The Aiken facility specializes in sheetmetal and piping fabrications in support of the company's project work located at the U.S. Department of Energy Savannah River Site. The majority of this work is performed under the Company's NQA-1 quality program or other quality programs with similar stringent requirements.
